Kicking my parents out of the kitchen and even barricading them in their bedroom until 2:00 AM was the norm growing up in Brooklyn, NY. In 1966 John Lennon made his famous exclamation that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus, the first lunar orbiter was launched, Ronald Reagan was elected governor of California and the television series 'Star Trek' hit the screen for the first time. I didn’t notice. At 13 years old I was already swimming in developer, fixer and stop baths. Feeling around blindly in changing bags to unravel canisters of film and, as clichéd as it is, watching the magic of images appearing on paper under red safelights was an addiction that lasted until the digital coming of age.
