Memorial for Dayaa

Gatekeeper of memories... that was my role this day 4/23/2006.

My family and I were enjoying a day in the park, in Golden. After lunch I walked by a couple, Meghan and Mark. Their dog, Dayaa, was sitting, sweet as can be, a few yards away from them. I commented on how nice the dog was and after a few seconds of conversation Meghan's eye's started to tear up. I felt she had recent loss of, perhaps, another pet. I asked and, as it turned out, Dayaa was suffering with cancer and this was her final day. I wave of empathy flooded over me. They say when you run into a burning building to save someone you really don't give it much thought; you just do what needs to be done. I didn't have my camera but she had one. I asked to borrow it and took the photograph of Dayaa with Meghan and Mark in the background. Now they have a family memory to look back on. WAIT! There's more. Meghan told me that the cameras' flash card had accidently been formated the previous day, wiping out many more photographs that she had taken of Dayaa. I had her bring the memory card to my gallery. I had the recovery software to save her images and it worked.
I truly believe a greater power touched our lives that day.
